Description

The Burghart Smell Quartet smell training kit (also known as the ODOFIN Duft Quartett) can be used to improve your sensory abilities (smell training). This kit contains 4 Sniffin Sticks which are four pens that are not provided with ink but with natural fragrances. This smell training method is based on the research of Professor Thomas Hummel from the University of Dresden and is the original (first) smell training kit commercialy available.

Smell training kit with Sniffin’ Sticks

For this training you have to intensively smell 4 different scents twice a day, the original odors are rose, eucalyptus, lemon (lime) and clove. This smell training kit is prescribed by (ENT) doctors worldwide. In addition to this original smell training set, we also have a set number 2 available with 4 other scents, which you can use to vary the training. We have the following versions of the Duft Quartett available:

• Set 1: rose, eucalyptus, lemon (lime) and cloves
• Set 2: mint, thyme, jasmine and mandarin

The advantage of these sticks is that they last for a long time (about 1.5 years) and are easy to use. Each pen has a best-before date so you can be sure that the pens have the correct fragrance strength and are reliable for the training.

The sets will be delivered including a box, gloves and manual.

Olfactory training

On the basis of contemporary knowledge, the effect of the smell training kit is a stimulation of the olfactory mucus and also a strengthening of the sensation in the brain. To notice the effect of the smell training, you must carry out the training for several months. Various studies have shown that the first result is often noticeable after 6-7 months. It is also important that you do it daily. In the morning and in the evening. Put the Sniffin Sticks in a handy place so that you do not forget and you can train your sense of smell daily.

The idea that our sense of smell can be improved via training might at first seem strange, but the more you think about it the more it makes sense.  Going to the gym and lifting weights can improve muscle mass and tone, and practicing the guitar regularly will (hopefully!) improve proficiency.  So will spending time sniffing odours.

Procedure of the training

• Put on the provided cotton gloves. Hold the stick in one hand and open the cap of the stick with the other hand. Take care not to touch the tip of the stick with your skin or other objects. Hold the stick approx. 2 cm (0.8 in) beneath your nose. Inhale the odour intentionally for 15 seconds and put the cap back on afterwards. Please repeat the procedure for each odour.
• Per training session, you should do a total of 2 rounds with all 4 sticks, so that at the end you have smelled each stick for 30 seconds. Do this training in the morning and in the evening for 6 to 9 months. Usually, it takes from several weeks to a few months for the sense of smell to improve noticeably.
• Hold the tip of the stick approx. 2 cm (0.8 inch) below the nose and centered between the nostrils.

Each stick is labelled with a best before date, this date is approx. 1 year after purchase. Due to hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns of the sticks.

嗅覺訓練（Olfactory Training）

根據目前研究，嗅覺訓練可刺激嗅覺黏膜，並加強大腦對氣味的感知能力。

訓練方法

1. 戴上隨附的棉質手套。
2. 一手握住氣味筆，另一手打開筆蓋。
3. 注意不要讓筆尖接觸皮膚或其他物體。
4. 將筆尖置於鼻下約 2 公分（0.8 吋）處。
5. 有意識地吸聞氣味約 15 秒，然後蓋回筆蓋。
6. 對每一種氣味重複上述步驟。

每次訓練需進行 2 輪，讓每支氣味筆總共嗅聞約 30 秒。

每日早晚各進行一次，持續 6 至 9 個月。

通常需數週至數月才會明顯感受到嗅覺改善。
